Filmmakers love Dunedin.

Dunedin is a film-friendly city with breathtaking scenery and distinctive, old-world charm. A location for several high profile features, including The Light Between Oceans and X-Men Origins: Wolverinefilmmakers come for unique wildlife, coastal and inland scenery, and the widest selection of Victorian buildings in NZ.

Dunedin is home to established screen businesses, a rapidly growing tech and gaming scene and has the capacity to support visiting projects. Resident in the city is a wealth of acting and crew talent.

The Film Dunedin office rolls out the red carpet for visiting scouts and producers and will work with our friends in other agencies to quickly organise permits.

Message from the Mayor

Dunedin has a long screen history that supports a dynamic creative economy. This is spurred on by our sister city relationship with Shanghai, heritage buildings, wild landscapes and abundance of creative talent. With our neighbours, we look forward to supporting the telling of stories to global audiences through screen in all its manifestation. David Cull
